Likoni 203 Slum-Mombasa

Rebuilding livelihoods in Mombasa's informal settlements

Less educated and uneducated women, youth, children, and persons with disabilities form the majority of vulnerable residents in Likoni 203, Moroto, and Bangladesh informal settlements in Mombasa, Kenya. Access to jobs, education, skills, and stable income remains severely limited.

Adults rely on casual, low-paying, and insecure work in town. This contributes to extreme poverty, school dropout, youth vulnerability to substance abuse, social crime, and early marriage risks for girls.

Many residents turn to street, small, and hawking enterprises — yet these remain weak due to limited business skills, inadequate capital, poor workspaces, low-quality production assets, and insufficient raw materials.

Civicom Aid responds by providing business coaching, improved workspaces, productive assets, essential raw materials, and social support. Stronger enterprises create jobs that increase household income, return children to school, and support youth access to college education.
